Blacklisted

A few months I wrote a post about how Kathy Bates was blacklisted from doing Letterman or Leno after doing this film (much to her pleasure because she hates doing talk shows). But I believe even Sandra Bernhard haven't showed up on Letterman/Leno since she did this movie as well, and Bernhard was a Letterman regular. The last late night talk show I seen her on was Kimmel's show. Is Letterman and Leno blacklisting the actors from this movie?

When was this show taped?

2001 i believe

Well if it's true, then I am wrong.

Then again, Leno might be a nicer guy than Letterman, and more willing to forgive.

Very interesting...

So I decided to do some quick research and this is what I found as of 2013 (based on IMDB and epguides guest lists):

Kathy Bates was on Leno twice in 2011 (never on Letterman)
Ed Begley Jr was on Leno in 2008 (never on Letterman)
John Michael Higgins has yet to appear on either Leno or Letterman's show
Sandra Bernhard was on Letterman's show in 1998 (2 years after The Late Shift)

I wouldn't be surprised if Bates, Begley Jr, and Higgins are officially blacklisted by Letterman. He seems to be the type that holds a grudge, albeit 17 years later.

In fairness, only Kathy Bates has done anything really worthwhile since 1996 to earn a spot on a talk show's couch. Higgins has done mostly guest-starring roles, while Begley does the occasional HBO movie (and Recount had Kevin Spacey, so he probably represented that film on the talk show circuit, and honestly I still don't know what Bernhard has done to be a guest on a talk show, although she is quite funny on them.

I think Dave can hold a grudge, but Madonna's been back on his show, as has Bill O'Reilly, and you know there's no love lost between Dave and either of them.
