Some Similarites To Miller's Crossing....

I noticed three things in this that were similar to Miller's Crossing, which I think was an inspiration for this movie, besides the book it was based on.

I. Bruce Willis character is very similar to the Gabriel Byrne character, except that in Crossing, Byrne isn't a shooter. I'm talking about personality wise, both of them seem to be real witty(smart) loner type badasses to the end.

II. Christopher Walken's character reminds me of the JE Freeman character (The Dane), the right hand man who in essence is really running things sort of, and is also pretty smart, to boot.

III. Both have the Irish and the Italians pitted in a prohibition era mob war.

Any other thoughts..... Feel free

Well...
"Last Man Standing" is a remake of "Yojimbo" (which was also remade as "A Fistful Of Dollars") which in turn is based on an old Dashiell Hammett book called "Red Harvest" which was also an inspiration for "Miller's Crossing", so...
I guess yeah, there are similarities between "Last Man Standing" and "Miller's Crossing"

Miller's Crossing is a very close adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's "The Glass Key", not "Red Harvest".

I read The Glass Key about a month after I saw Miller's Crossing during its original theatrical release and it really bugged me that there was no credit for the book in the film credits considering how closely it followed the book.

Miller's Crossing borrows plot points from both "The Glass Key" and "Red Harvest". The Coens acknowledge this.

The power struggle between two rival gangs and how the protagonist plays both sides against each other is from "Red Harvest".

Thank you! I was trying to think of what this reminds me of and you called it.
