what do they mean by getting munsoned

roys last name is munson
is that related some how

reply

In a lighter way of putting it, Munsoned means to pretty much have everything going for you, but then you throw it all away to become nothing

Obviously the word came to be through the years after Roy was destined to become a bowling great, but then threw it away when he joined McCracken in the con, lost his arm and became a drunken loser.

What happened was Munson had a great career until McCracken was able to get his hand cut off in a bet that goes bad. Munson sunk into depression and was drinking heavily, destroying his life. So being "Munsoned" is meaning throwing away your career, like Munson did. It is a joke.

It's a running joke from the beginning of the movie when he's dad's says when people think of the name Munson there going to think of a winner, but since he screwed up everyone thinks of the name Munson they think a person who had everything and screwed up. The funiest part is that every time Munson hears it the look on his face is priceless.

During the tournament, the announcers mention that McCracken is to bowling what Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle is to baseball. I think it's funny how that's what Munson was supposed to mean. Another dream stolen by Big Ern.

Yeah it's great cause at the beginning of the movie Roy's Dad says something like "When people hear the name Munson they're gonna think winner" and later in the movie Big Ern says "Step away from him he's what we call a born loser a reeaall Munson." It's funny how it ended up being the complete opposite of what Roy's Dad thought it would be.

Funnier still, that Ishmale was the first person to use the expression, possibly hinting that the saying was so popular that even the Armish used it.

Funnier still, was Big Ern saying in his Unified Fund commercial, "It's a tough world. These kids nearly got munsoned. But they're back now." (http://movieclips.com/Tvzt-kingpin-movie-big-ern-and-the-unified-fund/ 30.5/100.55/)
