Roy acted surprised when he found out Ishmael was Amish. Yet he goes to that alley every week and Ishmael was close enough to bicycle to get there. Wouldnt Roy be very aware of an Amish community close to a bowling alley he goes to weekly?
shareThe surprise isn't necessarily that there's an Amish community nearby, the surprise is that there's an Amish person bowling. It's not something they would normally do.
Also, realistic narrative logic is not really what this movie is about.

shareI was going to say the very same thing. Roy was a full blown drunk and so zoned in to his own decrepit world that he was oblivious to anything outside himself and what he did.
