"Welcome to urf".
A better line has never been said.
shareDon't know if that's a Mandela effect but he very clearly says earth.
shareIt's an exaggerated way people quote the line.
shareI’m not familiar with this Mandela Effect, but it’s pretty easy to reason out what you mean by it for someone intelligent like me. Basically, you’re saying that because Nelson Mandela was black, he would have said “Urf” too. I don’t know…that seems too racist for use in these times.
shareI'm from South Africa, a country as steeped in historic racism as the USA, and I don't see anything racist about Kompressor's comment. Will Smith's line could easily be misconstrued as "urf" depending on which accent one is familiar with. I understood it as "earth" because South Africa is very familiar with American and British pop culture, but, say, China or India might hear "urf" because of accentual or cultural differences.
I genuinely wish white people would consult us before launching race wars on our behalf. Did you know that black people exist outside of the USA? (I'm being facetious, of course you know). For example, the concept of "cultural appropriation" is a purely African American construct. In South Africa when we see a white person with dreadlocks or wearing African attire we see it as a sign of him/her embracing our culture, not stealing it.
Please cease and desist from starting immaterial squabbles over nonsense like this. You're not being an ally or being helpful by deciding for us what we are or should be offended by.
I mean the above in the spirit of friendliness and being informative. African Americans do not represent black people elsewhere in the world. Our struggles are not the same.
PS, have met Nelson Mandela and he did not die in prison. The Mandela Effect is a fabrication of ignorant idiots (and I mean that with all the caustic venom that word can muster) who couldn't be bothered to read the news once in a while. I abhor conspiracy theorists with the scorching intensity of a thousand burning suns.
Lolol!
shareI love your post Damocci! Very well said!

A good portion of this movie... and in most of movies.... he peppers in ebonics like a moron, so that image sticks even when he's not doing it.
I like "keep my wife's name out your F'in mouth better".
It has more zing to it
