We thought it was so cool that this movie was set in Defiance, Ohio. We live 20 minutes North of Defiance. Most of my family lives there. I really like this movie. Not too many movies are family friendly anymore. My 4 year old gets a huge kick every time we go to Defiance. She thinks it's famous. My suggestion is to rent it. It's a good movie for all of the family.

Movie is "set" in Defiance Ohio. Actually filmed in Chagrin Falls, Ohio in the other side of Ohio.
shareYour point is....???? My daughter just thinks it's cool that it's mentioned in a movie. I see no reason to explain to her that it's just "set" in Defiance but filmed elsewhere. Like she'll understand that anyway. We live 15 minutes northeast of Sherwood,OH("setting" for "Heathers"). If you've ever driven past Sherwood(which I'm sure you haven't), you'd know that "Heathers" wasn't filmed there. My point...I'm not a moron. If there would have been a movie shot in Defiance, it would have been all over the local papers. Although, there were parts of a movie(I don't know which one)shot in Hicksville, OH. That was all over the local papers. Obviously, not a big blockbuster or anything but the locals were excited all the same.

shareJust watched the movie again after years. I'm from Toledo, and someone should have pointed out to the producers that there are no mountains anywhere near that part of Ohio like the one the is behind every exterior shot of the house. Not being picky, just think it's funny.
