Faithful to the book? They exagerrated things way too much.

Theatre is life, the rest is just rehersal
It wasn't overexaggerated. It would have been flat and senseless had they not altered the text which was done so well they stayed remarkably faithful to the story, adroitly producing a wonderful film loved by many in the process.
