Not a fan of Harriet's 'Friends'

Its been awhile since I saw this movie, I know Harriet said some negative things about them in her journal but come on, real friends don't treat you like that when you make a mistake. I admit I wouldn't be happy but I wouldn't treat my friend like that and torment her....In my opinion real friends treat you with respect regardless. Last Summer my friend said something awful to me and it hurt my feelings but instead of me teaming up with someone who she doesn't like and treat he like crap, we talked it out and worked it out.
Granted these are 6th graders but come on.....I wouldn't be too happy with my so called friends after that

Yeah, even when I was a kid I never got that. When the bratty girl held out the notebook for Janie to read, I always thought, if she was her friend she'd snatch it back and give it back to Harriet.

Oh I agree that Harriet was wrong to do what she did....but I think she did that because she snapped....and truthfully I can't say I wouldn't of done the same thing....going to school day after day and get treated like that especially by your so called "Friends" does things to a person, but yeah I still don't condone Harriet's choices.
I recently re watched the movie and I stand by my statement even more, I forgot some of the things they did to her such as the paint, taunting and other things. Plus I agree with Nova, if it were me I wouldn't of even read what was in Harriet's Journal. Again Sport and Janie had every right to be hurt by what they read, but their actions were definitely uncalled for....and I see those two as people with severe loyalty problems. Plus aligning themselves with someone like those two bitches who would say 10X more hurtful things behind their back more frequently is extremely idiotic.

So what I'm hearing all of you say is that you want to be able to talk sh.t on your friends and they better not turn on you at all...oh. And the hostility directed at Janie is completely uncalled for because the entire class was laughing at Harriet. Seems like some misplaced aggression. Also, never mind that fact that Harriet shat on her friends again after she got caught the first time.

You obviously didn't read all I said, I clearly stated I don't blame Janie or Sport for being mad at Harriett, they had every right to be....but they turned themselves into hypocrites. They were mad at Harriet for saying terrible things about them, so in return they say and do terrible things to her. If I were Harriett I wouldn't blame them for being mad at me, but to go down that road wasn't really fair and was a bit excessive. Also Saying that Janie wasn't wrong to laugh at Harriet because everyone else was begs the age old question, If everyone were jumping off a high bridge would you do it too? Just because everyone is doing something, it doesn't mean it necessarily the right thing to do

These are eleven year olds, I remember in the 6th grade something similar happened to me where all my friends turned on me. You're a sixth grader, youre dumb you dont really grasp the concept of private thoughts, even ones written down, arent supposed to be taken so personally.

Of course im an adult and just recently rewatched this movie and I still thought how they acted was appropriate of kids fresh out of elementary school. They had their feelings hurt and when Harriet apologized they thought it over and eventually forgave her.

I slightly disagree, however like I mentioned in my first post I could see Janie and Sport ignoring Harriet being normal for their age, but the lengths they went to wasn't. I had a fight or two with some friends who did me wrong and I ignored them, but I didn't go to the lengths those two did and align myself with someone like Marion Hawthorne. Now now that doesn't mean I'm putting myself on a pedastal because like everyone else, I'm far from perfect. But there are kids who know better to not treat their friends like that just because they did them wrong.
