Where does the name 'Ole Golly' come from??

I've read the book many times since my youth, and still rather like it.
But the name Ole Golly isn't explained there.
I know her real name is Catherine.

Harriet's parents call her "Miss Golly" (in the book at least), it seems pretty clear Golly is her last name.

Yeah I always thought Golly was her last name and Ole was just for Old I dunno what does Ole stand for at the start of things? Like Ole Miss? Lol I dunno.

I still am wondering where the 'Ole' part came from.
It always seemed very odd to me that a woman (especially someone somewhat prim & proper like her) would agree to be called 'Ole'!

Is it like Ole Miss?

I guess it means old, maybe Harriet called her that as a joke when she was very young or something? Even though Ole Golly was strict they had a bond and it might have been a lasting nickname.
