Harriet made a mistake but did not deserve what happened to her

They should not have all ganged up on her like that. She was completely isolated and lost after that. She wrote the truth and did not do it a maliciously, but as a creative journalist for her own enjoyment. She didnt deserve the disproportionate retribution she received from her classmates.

I agree and it broke my heart. I was hoping that maybe the revenge stuff was seen through exaggerated perspective of a child? You know, kind of like how when we grow up and go back and visit our childhood school or whatever and it seems so much smaller than we remember? Also, the poor kid was already so depressed over Ol Golly, that surely colored her interpretation of everything that happened during that time.
