The bathroom sink

Remember that huge round sink in the girls' bathroom at school, in which Harriet practically takes a bath? I've always loved that thing. Anyone know if they're still around? A couple people have told me that rhey've seen them in old buildings, or in woodshops where several people may need to wash their hands at the same time.

I swear...if I ever come across one of these, I'm gonna take my shoes off and climb in just like Harriet did. Lmao.

We had those in my junior high school, except they weren't a full circle fountain like they are in the movie; they were semicircles and were built against the wall, but several kids could wash their hands at a time. There was a metal rail that ran along the bottom of the sink and you had to step on it to make the water run.

My elementary school had the semi-circle ones against the wall. It was random because even though the building was built in 1899, they had updated the restrooms with regular sinks there were still two of these big sinks in the basement. We usually used them after art class. Then shortly after its 100th anniversary celebration it was converted into condominiums so those sinks are long gone :(

I go to SIUE, and they have them in some of the old bathrooms :)

I wanted to have one of those sinks and put my feet in it so bad!

Oh that brings back memories of grade school! Though like everyone here, our school had the semi-circle one, attached to a wall. I wonder if they still have them in my old school. This was like the 90s.

My elementary school had them during my first few years there (1998-2002), but then switched to regular single person sinks around 2002 or 2003.
