No pirate attack scene?


I'm surprised there wasn't a scene showing when the ship is attacked by pirates so that Hamlet gets separated from R&G, especially since Branagh went to the trouble of filming Yorick's nostalgia (a truly inspired scene) and the Fall of Troy as narrated by Charlton Heston.

I guess he felt it wasn't necessary. Maybe the other stuff fit in with the monologues.

I'm surprised and thankful that a full text, 70mm, feature film was made in the first place. Prior to this the best Hamlet ever filmed was the 1980, BBC full text version staring Derek Jacobi.

I've lived upon the edge of chance for 20 years or more...
