Does anyone think that since Judith's murder was fresh in the public minds having happened 2 months before...that it might have influinced the police to look at the father as the killer.

What's strange is that Judith Barsi played one of the murdered daughters in the movie Fatal Vision. FV was a movie about the true life story of a man who killed his entire family (pregnant wife and daughters).
Anyway, to answer your question, I don't know. I think that it seemed logical to them to push that angle. Maybe they didn't want to believe there was a killer on the loose out there. Maybe it was the easiest answer for them.

Judith died such a sad and tragic death and I had heard prior to her death she was very disturbed because of her father and the things he did. Really, the first thing they look for is a relative such as a father, uncle, etc. Usually it is someone who knows a family member. Not in all cases.
