If this movie is correct....

on how the cops handled the evidence and the case, I think some of the cops should have been charged with misconduct and whatever else for not handling this case properly. In the first part where the cops notice the window broken with the parents, one of the cops mentions picking up broken pieces of glass randomly and putting it on a table near by. That glass should not have been moved like that. It was all evidence and could have had prints wiped over or whatever due to the stupid cop.

Not to mention, there were several conversations with the thirty cops in a larger meeting room talking about not handling the dust particles properly. I also don't think at anytime the parents should have been talking to the cops with out a lawyer once they realized they were being suspected.

I've seen enough detective shows to know this was not right as soon as I heard it. These cops wanted to convict someone and they didn't care who and I think that if any of the film was based on actual actions of the cops, they should most be charged with something.

I am not too familiar with the actual case and don't know if it all worked out, but I know that from what I could tell of this film these parents were already dealing with a missing child and then to have cops do such a lousy investigation? There is just now excuse for that. Their job is to serve and protect and I didn't really see that in this film very much. Then again, I am also taking this film with a grain of salt and it could just be Hollywood adding extra stuff for entertainment.

yeah. what about the cop giving out 'off the record' info in the middle of a crowded room full of many people! how off the record is that?

"Rue the day?" Who talks like that?

The harsh reality is this family was railroaded to promote Daily's career. He was the prosecutor. He saw that it was a sensational case and saw the opportunity to be in front of the camera as a hero for closing the case quickly. Shortly after that Daily became mayor of Chicago.
