I love watching films and reading about Black history...

..that I even explored the workings of the Civil rights movement, and turned it into a textile final project of Martin Luther King against the American flag. That's how much I love reading about world history, but black history is what I enkoy studying most.

Is there any films or books you recommend for someone who enjoys reading about this sort of stuff?

This film got me really emotional and I cried when Whoopi did at the end. I loved it so much.

I haven't read this and I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but this book won the Pulitzer Prize for history this year:

"The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation" by Gene Roberts and Hank Klibanoff.

From what I understand, it is about how the press' coverage of the civil rights movement shaped events by influencing public opinion.
