You're slightly confused about the term .30-06, you've probably since realized your error but just in case I'll explain it. A .30-06 is a .303 caliber U.S. Army rifle cartridge designed in 1906 for the Springfield rifle. It was used by the U.S. military up until the 70's and is still in use by private owners today. So the two terms you referenced are indeed synonymous. the Enfield 1917 .303 used a .30-06 cartridge.
