Love this movie but never understood how Kate just pretty much forgave the man that was the cause of her families death. "I'm sorry" wouldn't be enough for me.

Well, technically, Seth didn't kill her family. True they'd still be alive if he hadn't taken them hostage. But the vampires killed them. And Seth lost his family too.

It's like someone putting you on a bridge made of feathers and when you plummet 30 stories he says "well it's not my fault it couldn't support his weight".
