Great story; badly done

Good story, acting, casting, cinematography, it gets people to think about animal welfare and plant-based diets.

But the writing was very unsatisfying: The 2 main characters hardly spoke to each other; most dialog was useless hostility.

I blame the 90's(a lot of 90's movies rely on hostility and "extreme"-ness.

Hasn't anyone else noticed this bad trend? Or do people consider this normal?

It's the kind of film that works well if you let the errors fall away and enjoy the film for it's meaning, even though that might sound corny, of one very unlikely person (Amy) making a difference for the better...

Years ago I was part of a large group of bicyclists who rode almost 400 miles, also over a 5 day period (also with our support vehicle - having one really is important when things go wrong - and they almost always do), and we'd hear similar "Oh, you're the people in the newspaper/on television" comments from the residents of the small or larger towns we passed through on our journey, and similar to the film especially in the last few miles when you realize you've accomplished something of that magnitude, and watching this film in some ways brought back the memories of how very very (two very's - lol) special a journey like that can be - it's a once in a lifetime adventure and gives a person's life meaning beyond words when you realize that you've done something that maximizes our individual potential to it's full, or as the Flight Director said in Apollo 13 (as he also said in real life), "We were born for this moment", when you consider how many people let this short life pass by without stepping out beyond the ordinary, so as said I'd just let the errors fall away and enjoy the film for it's true meaning...

Wow, you're comment moved me, sawgrassbike. Sounds amazing that people said to you: "you're the bicyclists from the newspapers/television!" That's one point I love in the movie. Fly Away Home moves me like no other movie does, and I've seen many, many (yes, two many's, lol) :)

Fly Away Home steers something deeply inside me, and triggered my interest and deep love to geese in a way that always after I've watched the movie again, I think, while wiping away my tears (and I'm a 34 male!): "Oh man, I also want to get my own geese and spend my time with these fascinating, intelligent, wise and beautiful creatures! That's how life is meant to be. Life is so beautiful!"

That's a dream I want to accomplish. As you say, so many people just live their ordinary, boring life, and pass so many opportunities, like to form a special formidable friendship to animals, birds, geese.

Before I knew the movie, geese were no matter to me, I didn't care, but since I've seen Fly Away Home, I long for geese, and cry tears watching the flick, especially the opening and ending are extreme tear jerkers. Only 6.8/10 rating on IMDb is a joke.

Would be glad if you replied to me, what you think when watching Fly Away Home.

Greetings From Germany!
