Phony Singing...

Don't get me wrong - I love this movie and love the 'You Don't Own Me' but it's so lip-synched and the singing has been digitally reworked (with the exception of Bette) that it's almost laughable every time I've ever seen it. Does anyone else agree?

While the 3 actresses did their own singing - it took place in a STUDIO. It is painfully obvious in the film during the singing sequence that they are lip syncing to their own previously recorded vocals. They are studio vocals, not live. Furthermore, it is rare for a film to have the actors actually sing the song live as that is difficult and tedious over the many takes and sequences that are required.

yeah its just synching in the beginning when they are supposed to be college age

Over-dubbing the song vocals, even when the actors are doing their own singing, has always been standard practice in Hollywood, and it's problematic, because unless they really do it right it can be painfully obvious and distances the audience from what's happening on the screen.
