Who else didn’t care for the father?
He just seemed uptight and controlling. Yeah he was right about David but you get the feeling he would have behaved that way no matter who usually daughter was seeing

shareAT THE TIME I FIRST SAW THIS I KNEW AND LIKED WILLIAM PETERSON AND HAD VERY LITTLE LIKE FOR MARKIE MARK...SO I FOUND MYSELF ON PETERSON'S SIDE THE WHOLE FILM.
shareThe guy was fairly uptight, but he wasn't particularly overbearing. He just came cross as a typical suburban dad looking out for his daughter. The first time he met David he was nice to him. He didn't object at all regarding Nicole going to the amusement park with David and his friends, except only that he get her back by midnight. He didn't start getting on David's case until he gave him a reason to. Like beating up Nicole's friend and slapping her in the process.
shareSteven was suspicious of David from the beginning when he commanded Nicole to get a coke instead of asking politely even though they have just met. Then he noticed that David rigged his clock an hour half back to spend more time with Nicole. I think those are justified reasons to be wary of him. Also Nicole was incredibly naive and stupid, I think she was far more less likable than her dad.
