Why didn't Jerry go to a bank?

Not bad advice actuality.

We're not a bank, Mikeman.
It's the way we prefer it.

He is already in lots of debt. Getting a loan from the bank would have increased the debt.

IIRC, we never get the full story as to why he needs that much money. He doesn't want his family knowing about it and is desperate enough to pay off the debt that he's willing to work with criminals to stage a kidnapping, I always assumed he was already involved in something illegal so he wanted things done on the DL as much as possible.

Did you even watch this movie? HE WENT TO A BANK. GOT A LOAN. PUT UP SOME NON-EXISTENT CARS AS COLLATERAL AND THEY WERE CALLING BACK THE LOAN BECAUSE OF THIS.

I think the net should mandate passing a test before use.

reply

That was GMAC, the financing arm of the dealership. They are not a consumer bank either! He had embezzled that money from the dealership, and that's the money he had to pay back. That was not a personal loan.

Did YOU watch the movie?

reply

Look at the credit.
Plus, would you lend this weasel money? He seemed desperate and shifty from the get go.

He just sweated Bad News.
