Could this be one of Mr. Kojima's inspirations for Metal Gear Solid?

Hideo Kojima says it wasn't. Nevertheless, it's hard to resist comparing.

First: Snake being the code-name of the main Metal Gear Solid video-game character and main antagonists (Naked Snake aka Big Boss, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake); second, the name Plissken having been used in Metal Gear Solid 2 (when Solid Snake infiltrated the Big Shell and presented himself as Iroquois Pliskin to Raiden); and third,
Snake Plissken appearance portrayed by Kurt Russel's Persona has a clear impact in terms of image for anyone who has played the Metal Gear Solid Playstation saga: it's the spitting image of Big Boss (or vice versa)!!

Other than that, this movie was a bit ridiculous, but nonetheless it was worth the watch, at least for me, being a Metal Gear Solid Fan. Interesting.

Good catch, but you must be only a recent Metal Gear Fan if you have only realised this now ;-).

Indeed you are right. It is a well known fact that Hideo is a massive 80s and 90s action movie Fan and Snake Pliskin is nodded to in the games on many occasions (not just appearance etc). If you played Son's of Liberty after watching this movie you would have realized that is the reason Snake calls himself Iroquois (native american for Snake) Pliskin for half the game (until he is revealed to be Solid Snake in poor disguise).

Kojima actually contacted and received permission from John Carpenter (according to carpenter himself) to base MGS Snake on Snake Pliskin.

Not really, I became a fan in 2003, the first time I played it (Played Sons of Liberty in 2004). But I didn't read much about Mr. Kojima nor had I watched the Movies until recently (2013). If it was already known, then I suppose I ended up stumbling upon what others had already "discovered" XP Well... I can definitely say I'm not Fan #1 then, heh heh =D

The movies are still better than these crappy games, though. They should make a real Snake Plissken game.

Dismissing them as mere 'crappy games', I'm guessing you have never sat down and actually given one of them a couple of hours of your attention.

If you had, you would realise that both Carpenter's work and Kojima's are great pieces of art in very different ways.

Plus, you sound like a bit of knob if I'm honest.
