I thought it was very good and had a great adventurous epic feel to it. It's definitely an oscar bait movie though. And I get why some may not like it. For me it's an 8/10
One question though. Towards the end he ended up trading info to the Germans for the plane, was that his old friends plane?? And if so, how did the Germans get it??

Almasy traded maps to the Germans for gasoline, not for the plane. He knew where Madox had stored/hidden/buried the plane, so all he needed was gasoline for it.
