The imdb rating system is absolutely flawed!!!

How does this movie getting 7.3?

I don't mind people vote for their favourite movie but there are fans for other types of movie voting different types of the movie with low rating and it is impacting the rating so much, judge movies on this rating nowadays is so inaccurate.

Plus for people like the kind of movie such as TEP, they are usually harsh on rating as well. To them, 8 out of 10 is actually their top score because they believe nothing is perfect. So they actually vote this movie 6~7 or something. I know it is weird but it happens everywhere, especially for teachers.

The same goes for book lovers. Books and movies are two different things, I don't get why people kept comparing movies to books if their story is based on the books. Movies simply cannot describe fully. Can anyone honestly tell me you can read a movie remade book in 2 hours? The movie writer need to make the story so short that people need to absorb them within 1.5 to 2 hours.

There are book lovers and there are movie lovers. If you think the movie does not reflect to the book and vote the movie worse than it is, that is just unfair. People really should look at the story in different aspects.

I agree. I am both a book lover and a film lover and appreciate that time dictates most storytelling on film. I haven't read the book, but mean to do so quite soon. It is wonderful to see the story of a much loved book come to life on film. The only time I am annoyed is when the scriptwriter changes the story and alters meanings. Sometimes it works better such as with Bridget Jones's Diary, when the film was much better than the book (and written by the same person!). And then we have some of the Harry Potter and Jane Austen films and they must really be considered on their own merits as they are not faithful to the novels in all aspects. But I have learned to appreciate each medium for its own merits.

This is a very well made, very well acted film and won most accolades of its time and rightly so, IMO. So I think the rating on here should be questioned too.

Soooo basically you're upset that not everybody loves this movie as much as you do?

Because haters will give a low rating. Then there are people who haven't the movie but don't want it rank higher than their favorite film. They too will give a low rating like a "1" just to bring the rating down in favor of films they like. You'll notice in a lot of popular films will have "1" ratings.
