Yes it's really strange, but I've understood how they pick the movies for that list maybe they go by people's rating or by movies which over 8 but I don't know.
I adore this film its my favorite romance of all time and part of my top 3 films of all time.
And Ralph was just super hot.
The votes of members are averaged, and the highest make up the top 250. I believe, however, that there must be a minimum number of votes for a film to qualify for the 250.
I personally think people put way too much stock in the imdb ratings. Not everyone likes the same thing, and not everyone votes honestly.
7.3 rating for The English Patient, last time I looked Titanic's rating was around that and it won 11 Oscars. Makes no difference to me, they are both films I enjoy very much.
