First off I love it still. One thing I couldn't help but think that Katherine died because of Lazslo's stupidity. If he would of mentioned a British woman was dying due to a British plane crash, piloted by a British pilot, they would of been more eager to help them. I understand he had been walking for days and was frantic, but he should of explained himself better.

He actually realises that afterwords according to the book (if I remenber it correctly).

Especially since he knew Katherine's husband was a British Spy. But he did open with his membership in the Royal Geographic Society, which he probably felt was enough. He didn't anticipate having to concoct a xenophobic lie because he was so completely devoid of xenophobia himself that was blind to the fact it would even be an issue.
