Dull and windy
"It's a very ... plum plum"
When the boring, pompous main character uttered those words, very pleased with his little word-play, as if he'd just minted a brilliant and wonderfully clever new phrase, I began to wonder whether I would be able to endure this film to the end.
Often when asked why I find this film so tedious, I've felt unsure of exactly why I feel that way about it. It seems to have everything going for it; excellent acting, and well-made. But it occurs to me that one reason could be that the characters are such bores and their dialogue/conversation seems to consist of so much boring windbaggery. All in all such a disappointing, uninteresting group of people - I simply don't want to hear people blathering on about the winds of this, that and the other, and saying things like the aforementioned line, and "This place is mine, and I hearby name it the Almazy Bospherous".
