Why Mr. Frank Churchill not Mr. Frank Weston?
He is Weston’s son, right?
shareIt's all explained in the book, young Mr. Churchill took the surname of a relative with no heirs... and I can't remember the details because it's far from the most interesting part of the book.
If you're curious, Wikipedia or any Austen website will be able to spell it all out.
Furthermore, it is exactly what happened with Jane Austen’s own brother, Edward. He had to take the last name of his aunt and uncle in order to inherit their estate.
