What Jane Austen-ish books do you want to see get film or TV adapted ?

Without necessarily needing to only cite anything that's only set in the UK and / or also set in the same time historic time period as any of Jane's books are (anything mentioned can be set in present day or any time period), what fiction or even non-fiction books you admire, would you like seeing get either film adapted or TV mini-series adapted (if more time is needed to do the story justice), because it has similar or even more interesting themes and characters to any of those Jane's books, while the book refrains from actually imitating and / or visibily ripping off the whole plot of any of Jane's books.

It's really time that we start adapting works by Fanny Burney. With careful editing (Camilla, for example, is a 900 page book) to create the right script, smart casting choices, and I think a Sophia Coppola-ish bent towards giving the right modern twists and thus more appealing than that ponderous piece of crap that is The Duchess, any one of her books would make an excellent movie.

But bad script, bad directing, bad musical choices, and stunt casting will just lead to Burney being ignored for another 200 years. :(

I'd love to see Elizabeth Gaskell's 'Mary Barton' adapted. It's a great book, and there haven't been any adaptations since a TV one in the 60s. We've had (excellent) recent adaptations of other Gaskell books such as North & South, Wives & Daughters and Cranford, so it would be nice to see a Mary Barton adaptation.

I would love a North & South movie adaptation. Although the mini-series was faultless, it'd be interesting to see it as a big-screen movie with a decent budget. Elizabeth Gaskell deserves the same amount of attention Austen gets :)
