This movie had practically nonstop gossiping. The characters were obviously small-minded (and snobby) people. Still, every time I thought that the movie might be getting better, Miss Bates came along and started to annoy me. I was thrilled when Emma finally told her what she thought.

Yes, Jane Austen catches that brilliantly in her novels. They are really very funny.
