I want to meet someone like Mr. Knightly

He seems like such a great guy even if he is a character from a book! The way he is so down to earth and reconizes Emma's faults, but only because he cares to much for her. It's all so beautiful. Wow. I'm a hopeless romantic! Lol =)

ha Ha Ha! I get you totally!!

I love Mr Knightley (after Mr Darcy of course!).

Plus I love Jeremy Northam!

reply

I agree! he seemed so wise and understanding.

I like to think we exist. But most of us don't have the social obligations entailed by persons of class in earlier centuries.

reply

are you serious?
Mr Knightly is so boring
he is always right
and hes just so boring

we always get into discussions in english about how his and emmas relationship would be a rather boring one
she would bring a little excitement and he would ground her

yes he is like the perfect character
but...

i dont know
not someone id like to marry

There is something about Jeremy Northam in period costume...he is gorgeous. I would love to find a guy who is even half of how lovely Mr. Knightly is.

"Your entire personality is a riddle, Mr. Knightly. I thought you overqualified."

I agree.
Knightly's a nice man, but there was nothing about him that took my fancy.

Mr. Elton on the other hand....but that's just because I like Alan Cumming, lol.

Good luck. He only exists on film ( and even Jeremy Northam has never looked that good since 1996.)

"I say,open this door at once! We're British !"

reply

I completely agree. Mr. Knightly is wonderful. (doesn't hurt that I love Jeremy Northam!)

You're not a hopeless romantic, you're just sensible. I'm a guy and I thoroughly admire the Mr Knightley Austen created and, except for Strong, I very much enjoy watching all the portrayals in screen adaptations. I don't dislike Strong, he's just not as much fun to watch. The others seem somewhat humored by Emma, he just seems...annoyed.

I particularly admire the line...

"There is one thing, Emma, which a man can always do, if he chuses, and that is, his duty; not by manoeuvring and finessing, but by vigour and resolution.
And I like the honesty with which Austen endowed him.
