how did they do the dragon? it beats todays cgi by a mile! (transformers for example) its all flash and no bones i think these days!

Without having seen any of the "making of" featurettes, if there are any on the DVD, I can only guess that they used equal parts CGI and live action models.

The close up shots of Draco and Bowen are similar to many of the scenes with the T-Rex in Jurassic Park.

It's actually all CGI except when Bowen is under his paw and in his mouth.

dont fool yourself. the Cg was good for the day but doesnt even approach the quality of Transformers. say what you want about Transformers the CG is some of the best ever.
