just before Howard (Harry Dean Stanton) pours the whiskey into the the fuel tanks (or oil tanks) Captain Dodge tells him to "give me all you've got" for engine speed. Howard then replies to Dodge, "This is what I live for ... pbf."

P.S. Love the movie. Own it on DVD. To this day, my wife and I refer to a stinky fart as a "Buckman fart." I guess we need to get out more.
It is not PDF (computer term -see Acrobat) it is DBF.
DBF stands for "Diesel Boats Forever".
BTW I agree with you 100% this movie RULES (and I consider comedies somewhere between westerns and Rap videos, which in my book is pretty low).

Movies like this is why people like me joined the Navy! Five years service and all the better for for it thanks to 'The Final Countdown'. This though, is one of my favourite movies that I don't own!
