ship yard??


could somebody tell me if that ship yard where all the de-commisioned ships were in the film actually exists? if so where is it and whats the name of it??

those ships behind the Stingray are the ships of the Leahy and Belknap class. All of them were decommed in '93-'94

For those who are geographically challenged Suisun Bay is the the northeastern by eastern part of San Francisco Bay. There is also a mothball fleet up at Bremerton, WA and also I heard that there is one on the east coast also.

They are slowly dumping most of the mothballed cargo ships. Nowadays its all about speed and placement, so the Pre-Positioned Fleet and the LMSR vessels can easily carry three or four times as much with double the speed of the stick ships and rust buckets they have in that yard.

It's a shame too, cause they were some beautiful old merchant ships.
