For all of you out these who like this movie as I do, please do yourself a favor and check out Operation Peticoat with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis. It is the same kind of good screwball comedy, but even funnier. They are both great, but Peticoat is the original that much of this is based on (at least many of the gags are the same).
This is the girl from the right side of the tracks?
Actually, she OWNS the tracks.
They're both great movies, the preference of which is your favorite is whether you like older, dialogue based comedy, or newer, situation based comedy. I agree, both of these submarine comedies are worth owning!
And you'll notice later in the movie (Operation Petticoat) that the nurse Tony Curtis had been "dating" on the Sea Tiger remarks in disgust to one of the other nurses, "Don't bother volunteering [to be his wife] - he's already engaged... to the Super Chief!" in reference to the famous trans-continental passenger train, in service from 1936 to 1971.
