COMSUBLANT?

In the movie twice "COMSUBLANT" is pronounced with the emphasis on "Sub" like "Comsub-lant." I've only ever heard it with the emphasis on "Com" - "Com Sub Lant", but I don't know if maybe boat drivers say it differently? Is this a goof or just a regional thing?

The only thing I can think of that sounds like what you're describing is when someone called the con from the sonar station.

I think they were using an acronym that is saying, COMmunications, SUBmarines, aLANTic...but I could be wrong.
