My friends and I had a "growing up in the hood" movie marathon before watching this. We saw:

Menace II Society
Juice
Boyz in Da Hood

And it made this movie 10x funnier.

Everyday feels like Sunday.

Don't forget "Poetic Justice"!

I like the episode of The Boondocks where they spoof the interrogation scene from "Menace II Society".

I can't imagine it being funny at all without seeing at least one of them tbh? I love the film but without seeing the originals I don't think id "get" half of it.

Also worth seeing "higher learning" to understand a scene or two...

I so agree. I saw Menance II Society for the first time 1 year ago and laughed when I thought about the scenes in Don't be a menance. I hated to laugh at the scenes in menance II Society but when you watch Don't be a menance before watching the regular movies....

I saw Menace II before seeing DBAM but every time I've watched it since I crack up at certain parts because of this movie and I feel terrible.
