Same basic story and characters and whatever. DAYLIGHT had a bigger budget.
Weird thing about "Short Walk to Daylight" was that after the initial run/s, they added more scenes blaming the subway collapse on evil-doers. Maybe NYC didn't want them make people think a disaster like that could happen by itself.
Character-wise, it's Poseidon Adventure, but I always loved Short Walk to Daylight, having seen it some time in the seventies, not when it first came out.
I found Short Walk on youtube in segments, but can't find it anymore.
Well technically the tunnel was collapsed by evil doers. You have what I assume is the mob illegally transferring toxic waste to Jersey and whoever those...punks were who robbed the guy of his briefcase. Alone neither would have likely been an issue but together they caused an unlikely but plausible series of events that brought everything down
