Stallones most underrated movie?

This is a fantastic movie. Great special effects, stunts, drama, tension, acting. It has it all. I also think this is one of Slys best performances. This is up there with Cliffhanger has one of the best edge of your seat, man vs nature, action movies of the 90s.

totally agree. This has to be one of his best stunt movies ever? He is tumbling down 30 foot ventilation shafts, swimming, one handed pull ups even higher against raging water, running in 4ft of water. Even putting out stuntmen on fire. It's pretty rare to see that much versatility in an action star in one film.

I dont know why this movie gets no respect. And yeah, its a brilliant showcase for everything Stallone brings to the table.

This movie was on an over the air channel we get called Grit this weekend. Between Grit and Bounce there are some really odd movies that show up that I find fun (Like Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold, which was on around the same time over on Bounce).

I got into it after the movie had started. They were rescuing people from what looked like a prison bus with the power line swinging around. Overall, it was a good action survival movie. I don't think it was AAA material and honestly not as great as Cliff Hangar (a movie I really love)... but still entertaining.

If anything makes it underrated it's the fact that I had never even heard of it before. And in 1996 I was a regular to the movie theaters. So, I guess it wasn't distributed very well. I mean, I'm sure had I seen Stallone pictured for this I'd have been there. Bruce Willis, Keanu Reeves, Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, and heck even Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lungdren, Steven Seagal ... if they had new movies I typically opted to go see em with my action movie loving friends in the 90's. Heck also Christian Slater, Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and surely others I'm forgetting.

I have to agree this movie is actually quite under rated. What makes it special is how it maximises the tension we feel in every little disaster moment. A lot of something from Nothng. Contrast that to the transformer like movies today where they slam your face with a zillion effects with crazy shakey cam and you feel nothing really, just a brief moment of action and instantly forget. I'd much rather watch Stallone trying to go through those huge fans, even if it is very silly (the timers being on the wall, no over ride etc).

THIS is how it's done, modern action moviemakers should watch older movies like this one for influence on how to do action and suspense.

He has a lot of underrated films though, Oscar and Victory are one of them.

8/10; One of Sly's very best for sure; emotional, epic and has some of the best disaster effects in a film.

I'd put it in that category, it does seem to get a lot of hate when it's a really fun, great 90s action / disaster movie.
