Is the workprint a myth?

When I first saw City of Angels, I didn't mind it. It's an obvious step down from the original, but I thought it was OK. So, when I read of how badly the studio had the movie butchered, I got interested in finding this supposedly 100% improvement of a workprint (that's 2 and a half hours long), but I can't. I can't find any torrent links and I can't find anyone selling a DVD-R of it or nothin'.

And it seems like a lot of people have this same story. They badly want to see this workprint, but can't find it. So...does the workprint even exist? Is it just a myth? A rumor started by disappointed filmmakers? Should I just give up this idea of seeing the untainted City of Angels?

i gave up years ago man. i remember it being talked about since the movies release when i wasn't even a teenager...

Personally I am beginning to think also its just a myth. If there was any of it, I see no reason at least some of it would be somewhere online by now, everything else is. No clips no music, no stills, no nothing...........no matter how deep into You Tube you look or anywhere else. No one selling or trading any part of it. Some of it would have leaked by now.

theres no workprint the only real version thats closer to the original cut is the ppv cut which is very hard to find but its much better then the theatrical an the slightly extended directors cut

I think it's a unicorn, Read the tie in novel instead.

It's not charity if you get credit for it
