The fk? This movie is not that bad!

I recently re-watched this movie after LONG time since i saw it for the first and only time and i have to be honest, i enjoyed it quite a lot. It's much better then i remember and it's definitely much better then rest of the sequels.

Yes, some acting bits and dialogue were kinda bad but still it's nothing that would destroy the movie.

Songs from soundtrack are so-so, i didn't care at all for quite a lot of them, but i absolutely LOVED "Gold Dust Woman", "Jurassitol" and "I'm Your Boggieman".

Score by Graeme Revell was very good, but not as good as in first movie. Still though, there were scenes where it hit the right note and feeling.

Direction is solid. I loved some of the visuals of the movie.

They definitely made L.A. to look like living nightmare.

Again, my only problem is some of the dialogue and acting. But what i really hate about this movie is this;

Miramax studio and Harvey Wankstain who really did a number on this movie. Now i saw some films which were literally fked up by studios and producers who thought they knew what was best, hell many of the movies i like were unfortunate rape victims of this same kind of people, but re-editing and cutting that was made on The Crow: City Of Angels is one of the worst of it's kind and i honestly think that movie itself is one of the most unluckiest movies that were taken away from director and cut to pieces by somebody else.

Even though i liked the movie for what it is, there were times when i was watching some scenes and i thought to myself "Did someone had last minute idea for this,for that..." cause it looked like at one part movie was going on its own then all of a sudden in second part it looked like it was ripping off from first movie.

After reading about all the deleted scenes and original version before it was re-edited and seeing pictures of deleted scenes, at the same time i was surprised but not that much cause i could see that something was wrong with the movie even before i found out about that Miramax studio asholes were fkng around with it. When i was kid i always loved original trailer with "Gold Dust Woman" playing in background but i was always confused how some scenes from trailer were not in the movie; Kali swinging 2x4 at Ashe during their fight scene, Ashe morphing into crow, Ashe kissing Sarah...

I found copy of original script and i will definitely give it a look just to see what was deleted, changed and added.

It would be great if workprint version somehow leaked out to public, just like the ones from first movie. And speaking of them, workprints of The Crow are longer then normal version of the movie but i know for sure that there is more deleted scenes from first movie which were never released, just like deleted scenes from this sequel.

I feel sorry for what happened to TC:COA. Yes, there was no way that sequel is gonna be good as first movie, but there was no reason to chicken out and re-edit entire movie to be copycat instead something different, like director and writer wanted.

I'm gonna try to get fanedit which i heard fixes up some mistakes, but i really would like to see original 160 minutes long workprint/director's cut released, maybe even in some special edition. I think that this movie deserves that kind of release.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts about it. If you don't like the movie then fine, cause even though i liked it i still have some problems with it but it's not that bad as people say it is. Sht, there's no way that this sequel is worse then others.

As for studios like Miramax and their constant blsht, i'm just gonna say this;

You know what asholes do? Get fkd.

I totally agree with you, I would love a re-release of this in its whole.

Who cares? This rehash is garbage in any form. Just enjoy the first film. The "real" Crow.

reply

It really is. It's just a rehash of the original with a thinner plot and bad dialogue

reply

Pretty much yes, it is. It's not the absolute WORST "Crow" movie, that honor goes to Wicked Prayer (I mean have you SEEN that abomination? now THAT is absolute cinematic trash), but it's below Salvation, which really wasn't a bad movie. I just watched it again, and it felt as if the movie was trying to be a second-rate carbon copy of the first one, but as you said with a worst plot and writing, while also trying to be it's own movie? Kind of like it was so insecure to be itself, I guess.

Honestly, the only "good" thing about this movie for me was Iggy Pop only because I'm a big Iggy Pop & The Stooges fan.

All the criticism is warranted.

That said, I like some of the villain performances (not the main baddie) and the ok cinematography. The appearance by Deftones is also fun, though they deserved better. Lol

easily one of the worst sequels ever made to a Great First film!

The Crow is An All time great action movie....

The Crow 2 is just absolutely awful....

Theres very few sequels I can think of that were as Bad as This....
