So many things make no sense
If you pay even a modicum of attention to this movie, you notice that a lot of the story just doesn't make logical sense as to how Billy could've changed the outcome. On almost every repeat day there were things that didn't add up. I won't list them all, but here are a few I wondered about.
One example is the gifts he gets his parents. Where does he acquire these at 7 am on Christmas day? More importantly, how does he have them wrapped and under the tree before he even wakes up? If everything resets each day, it's not like he could've done it the night before...
Also, where does he get that dog for his neighbor? More confusing is how does he get it over there when we see that he wakes up at 7, just a minute or so before his neighbor goes outside? Again he couldn't have done it the day before.
One thing that really bugged me was the jelly beans. The store owners would know how many jelly beans they put in the jar to begin with before the contest. When the day came they would just announce who was closest or right on that number. Billy adds and subtracts beans, but it doesn't seem like that would make any difference. Ok, so you might argue that they actually do count them afterward, which I guess is possible, but why does the little poor kid guess a different number on the first day than he does on the last day? Wouldn't this make it REALLY difficult for Billy to know how to adjust the total if he couldn't be sure what that kid guessed? I guess he might look at the ledger with the guesses, but we never see that happen.
And although this doesn't really have to do with the day resetting...he throws salt down literally seconds before his uncle careens into the driveway and it melts the ice enough so he is able to stop in time? Haha!
