shareBecause Chip was a smothering parasite. The real plothole is how Steven was so slow to recognise that. The fact that Chip revealed that he committed Robyn's name to memory when he first showed up should have been the first red flag.
shareSteven thought Chip was weird from the moment they met. He never wanted to be friends with him, but Chip kept manipulating him in different ways. There was one or two very brief windows in the story where Steven was like "I guess this guy isn't so bad" before Chip would do something to freak him out again.
