The ending was changed....

I remember reading on this board a few years ago that the ending of the movie was supposed to be something different then it was originally. Apparently they went over budget and had to shoot the ending how it was (them cooking eggs). I thought the ending was fantastic. They don’t make movies like this anymore.

I watched this film last night and after seeing the final scene, I thought, what a rich, warm and caring ending. I think the entire final scene was five minutes and almost no dialogue. Nicely done. I thought the movie had the same taste and feel of Chocolat (ironically).

What is really interesting, is that they had to cook eggs for breakfast - that indicates that there were no leftovers! What a sumptuous banquet it was...

Oh, I never thought of it that way. That's really cool.

Dear sexy knickers I don't half fancy you meet me outside at 5:30 and we'll get it together

Maybe. Or maybe they were just tired of all that rich food and wanted something simple and freshly made. Actually, it's amazing they were hungry at all within 24 hours!

Really? Any idea what the ending was intended to be? It's impossible for me to think of a better finish than it got.

Agreed. A beautiful little ending to a beautiful little movie.

it was only 20 years ago, man. In fact, I think we're could be entering a possible golden age of film; seeing as how cheap traditionally expensive special effects can be done these days (if done correctly), and how accessible the tools for making film has become.
