I think they are called sterling roses. They are a greyish purple.

They've long been my favorite as well. They're sometimes hard to find though. I had them in my bridal bouquet, but the florist had to fly them in from Equador!
I now have a Sterling rosebush that my husband planted outside our house. It's so beautiful, and smells so great. The only downside is that the roots are usually fragile, so a hardier rootstock is grafted onto the rose. You have to monitor the bush to make sure the roostock doesn't take over the whole rosebush.
Almost all florist roses come from Ecuador. Sterlings are pretty, but not extremely rare.

shareyes in the movie they are the sterling roses, I've never heard of sterling silver though, they're a pale lavender. There are also roses that look similar to those called preludes...I think they are a little more purplish.

If you want one that looks similar, but isn't as unusual (has thorns, though), "Blue Girl" is just beautiful.
