Should I Buy This?

I saw it at a thrift store today for like, 2 bucks. Should I run back and get it? From what I read on the box and what a review said it sounds cute. And Slater is nice too, I just wanna know what other people think.

Sure, if you wanna watch a film about a guy who spies on a woman from the street while she sits alone in her appartment. Slater's character is basically a stalker. He follows Mary Stuart Masterson around, spies on her and sends her flowers (which he delivers himself and pretends not to know eho they're from). And yet.... he's never even spoken to her, he just likes the look of her. Now I'm sorry but in reality if any bloke did that, they'd have a restraining order taken out on them. Call it romantic if you like, but lets face it the kind of bloke that does things like that generally doesn't look like Christian Slater and more importantly - has probably never had a girlfriend. Creepy movie.

dude. forget about what i said about it sounding cute, that sounds HILARIOUS!

Cool - go for it. Must admit I'm tempted to watch it again myself now!!! I bet it's even more shocking now all these years later...

hmmm...to the Thrift Store ... AWAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Although I think you should "chill-out" a bit, the movie is a bit stalkerish in the sense that he does watch this woman from her window to give her flowers.

But in the world of movies, it is kind of sweet. But maybe I'm just weird.

Yes, buy it. It's a silly, sweet film and we all need to indulge in a bit of romantic fantasy now and again...

Also, Christian Slater's character is adorable in this film (and this is not a word i use very often!)

I guess you made the decision long ago - but I liked it - I just saw it for the first time. (I do remember liking the trailers, but somehow I never saw it in the theater).

I think people are overplaying the stalker aspect - he simply saw someone in a window because her light was on and saw that she was sobbing - noted where she lived and followed her to work to get an address. That's all. It's not THAT big a deal.

Mary Stuart Masterson is the reason to buy it - what a genuinely wonderful performance - you'll lose your heart to her. She has a modesty and a warmth that few other actresses have these days - she's something of a throwback to people like Jean Simmons or Greer Garson or (perhaps most of all) Irene Dunne.

Slater's character is not "stalking" - he takes walks at night because he can't sleep due to his own past pain - he sees a woman sobbing in a window and decides to try to put a smile on her face with flowers.

Stalking implies that he has seen her elsewhere and then follows her to find her apartment!

Sheeshk, were you all out getting popcorn when this was made clear to the rest of us???

reply

Ummm yea he did stalk her..
He see's her in the Window then decides to FOLLOW her to WORK.. Find out her name then take her flowers with no name in the note (but does have the address of the flower place so she can go hunt for him *GRIN*)

So yea in the definition of stalking he would be guilty! and remember she did see him outside her window once again the following night looking up at her window AGAIN...

You must have been out getting popcorn when that part was on I guess...

Get it...It'll be the best $2 you ever spent!! It's not stalkerish; it's sweet. The movie also has some very poignant and sad parts. It's not all giggles and smiles, but it's well worth the watch. A story of a real knight in shining armor saving a damsel in distress. Can't ask for much more than that.

How's this gonna work if you don't do what I say?
