I don't see what the flaws are in this movie, it is simple and short, nothing fancy about it just about a man who wants to make the relationship right from the start and a woman who thinks she is not worthy of such a wonderful guy like him. I am glad there was no love triangle here because remember she wasn't interested in a relationship with anyone and Brolin's character was just a one-night-stand guy nothing more. As for Slater's character, he shouldn't playing characters based on his own life and besides why must we judge people? I mean if he molested children like MJ or minor girls like R Kelly then I think he has a chance of redeeming himself.
He still is a great actor in my opinion and besides he played a character like this on Untamed Hearts only he was more shy, talked less and more angelic, on this film he is to me; the ideal boyfriend. Attentive, compassionate, considerate, honest and giving, eccentric but with a limit. One limit that doesn't go to far with the night walking and looking up at windows.
"However, I liked the chemistry between Slater and Masterson and the fact that the film was "old-fashioned." It was romantic with no gratuitous sex/nude scenes or foul language."
I think that is why I love this film, the old fashion romance and like I said it is simply written, there is no long speeches about 'Why we should be together' and there is one obstacle that was only Masterson's character that had to over come it. To admit that she loves and dare herself to let herself be loved.
