That scene was pure bad-ass!
The music, the art, and Beavis and Butt-Head in one = AWESOME!

What we think, we become.

The thing is the sequence is, according to test audiences, the best and worst part of the film. Some thought it was the best because it as just simply epic and it's just eye candy. However, those that hated it hated the fact that it really didn't NEED to be in the movie, and it just sort of randomly came about. Mike felt the same say. But hey, MTV wanted a music video in the movie, and Mike sure blew the doors off on this one.

But was eating the wild cactus necessary?

reply

Well he was desperate, dehydrated, and stupid.

Yes, he was dying of thirst and probably starvation too. Normally cactus contain water and can be used in dire situations. Somehow beavis remembered this, probably one of the few facts that he absorbed in school, "don't cactus have water in them..."
That cactus was obviously drawn to be peyote, a strong hallucinogenic. Hence the crazy scene. It makes perfect sense, and I fail to see the the source of confusion.

Loved it, esp the chicks with the big bouncing knockers :-)

I loved the scene

Be excellent to each other... and party on dudes!

reply

It was very, very well done... I wasn't expecting it, it's like the actual windowpane experience.. beautiful colors!

The song that played is Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls by White Zombie

reply

I love when Mike talks about it on the DVD commentary and mentions how he had a dream about how it might've played out originally leading up to that.

Beavis and Butthead are walking through the desert. Butthead says "This movie sucks!" and Beavis replies "Yeah. It's not going anywhere!"

Pro wrestling is neither real nor fake. It's magic!

I think Mike Judge knows that fans of his enjoy a toke now and then.
That scene was just a playful little trip - not too long, not too short.

reply

Too colorful to me, but I still liked it. But how the hell did they not die on the spot there?

reply

Because mescaline (the psychoactive chemical in the peyote cactus) is not deadly and is quite a beautiful thing!

It was drawn by Rob Zombie to go with the song he made for the movie. I never read this for a fact but as a fan of Mr. Zombies I have grown up on his cassette tapes and CD's and looked at lots of his art inside the covers. Yes I said cassette Tapes, they actually were around longer than u'd think.

But Seriously Your Opinion Is Wrong

reply

That's completely awesome; I never knew that before.

I love how Rob Zombie seemed to somewhat adapt the artistic-style of like Basil Wolverton and R. Crumb, which are who I immediately thought of when I first saw the sequence.

It IS especially awesome, and like most of the other posters in this thread above, I don't see how one could justify that the scene happens "randomly" (it's obviously because Beavis had taken a big bite of a 'shroom) or that it doesn't fit with the rest of the film (because it totally fits like so perfectly).

The first time I saw it, I was kinda stoned out of my head while watching the movie--it was waaay awesome hehehehehe Yay, Beavis and Butt-Head! And yay, Rob Zombie! hehehehe

reply

I think it was, to use a favourite B & B word, COOL. Rob Zombies' artwork is impressive.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

I always kind of just looked it at like a music video kind of as a reference to the show. It fit in just fine to me in that respect

reply

I love that scene! It was just so 1990's White Zombie, it was awesome.

I like that scene and always thought it looks like some Lords of Acid CD artwork mixed with some old school Ren & Stimpy & White Zombie lol and it makes me think of the Pink Elephants sequence from Dumbo. I could totally go for a full length feature film with some kind of story going on in that world.
