Bad copy of Casablanca!

I can see all the dirty version characters of Casablanca. Can you see it too?

No, I don't...

Inspired by Casablanca? The words blatant and rip-off come to mind.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine

spotted it halfway through.
But then Casablanca was my favourite movie at the time

reply

Thought I was the only one that noticed it. I had to spell it out to my friends - of course, most of them had never seen Casablanca (B&W prejudice abounds!).

reply

Yes, it is a re-make/re-imagining/rip off of Casablanca. When I realized that I almost fell over laughing.

reply

Actually I think this movie is briliant because it's a rip off of casablanca,

the myth in hollywood goes that when they showed the story to the producers non of them realised they where going to shoot Casablanca...

I'm not sure it is true (probably just urban legend)

but I think this is as fun version of casablanca as the one with Bugs Bunny!

I just love that Rick is now a hot big breast woman from a "mad max" type of universe! (one can only imagine how how many beers the writers had before thinking of this "what if" story)

people trash this movie, but if you see it as a fun and sexy goofy version of casablanca its actually good (well it does help if your drunk when you watch it!)

I completely agree with VanTammen. Just sit in front of it watching how Bogart turns into Pamela Anderson and how Sam becomes Udo Kier.
That's how I did and I spent a funny time checking the remake. Cult trash movie!

Totally agree with VanTammen. For some reason I just saw this for the first time in my life, and I was amazed to find it was one of the coolest remakes I've ever seen! These guys took a film that's one of my personal favorites and regarded as the pinnacle of cinema and transformed it into a trashy, ultra violent, silicone-filled explosion extravaganza complete with intentionally dopey and overwrought dialogue as well as crappy acting. To me, the movie was masterful in its fun inversion of Casablanca.

It's easy...

Pamela Anderson/Barb Wire = Humphrey Bogart/Rick Blaine

Temuera Morrison/Axel Hood = Ingrid Bergman/Ilsa Lund

Victoria Rowell/Dr. Cora D = Paul Henreid/Victor Laszlo

I'm going to leave all my problems behind and move to Las Vegas.
