There's a no holds barred sex scene at the beginning, followed by a gore-fest that (even if it isn't the worst ever) is still out of a child's range imo. And then the rest of the film seems pretty tame to me. Maybe still scary for a kid, but if Return to Oz was a children's film then this most definitely is, apart from the first ten minutes. Enjoyed the film, but bizarre.

You might be stretching it too far saying it was a no holds barred sex scene. There's just one shot of her breast. The rest is movie magic.
shareCut the opening and this is an easy PG-13. Can't believe the MPAA was ready to slap it with an NC-17 because of the opening alone. Also, yes, the sex scene wasn't explicit, but it was almost filmed in a softcore kind've way. It reminded me a bit of the sex scene in Jason Goes to Hell, and I'm not surprised the MPAA were after it. I see what the OP means because the rest of the film kind've felt like a slightly scarier Disney October film.
